Madras Central             Madras Central was built in 1873 at Parktown as a second terminus to decongest the Royapuram harbour station which was being utilised for port movements. Built in the Gothic Revival style, the original station was designed by George Hardinge and consisted of just four platforms.
St Thomas Church    The National Shrine of St.Thomas Basilica is built over the tomb of Apostle St.Thomas. St.Thomas one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ came to India in A.D.52, martyred in A.D.72 and was buried here in  Mylapore. There are only three basilicas built over the tomb of an apostle.
Mahabalipuram     Mahabalipuram lies on the Coromandel Coast which faces the Bay of Bengal. This is an elegant place to watch which a well established sea port was during the 7th and 10th centuries of the Pallava dynasty. This was the second capital of the Pallavas who ruled Kanchipuram.

The Republic Day of India venerates the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India on 26 January 1950.

     In this day India became a totally republican unit. The country finally realized the dream of Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters. So, the 26th of January was decreed a national holiday and has been recognized and celebrated as the Republic Day of India, ever since. While the main parade takes place in the national capital New Delhi at the Rajpath before the President, the anniversary is also celebrated with varying degrees of formality in state capitals and other centers.
